Now that I've been to Italy for a second time, I am more convinced than ever that this is a "must" for Lorraine and I every year. It is without a doubt, our "annual honeymoon". When we go to Italy, we aren't just going to a different place, we are transported to a different world. The culture, the language, the food, the architecture, the people... everything is "worlds apart" from what we experience on a daily basis - even when we vacation in the U.S. This year I progressed a lot further in speaking the language. I'm amazed at how little the others in the group even try, but for me, I thoroughly enjoy "stumbling through" every sentence I can put together. I even had my first "pseudo" conversation with a local - we probably had about a 50% comprehension between us, but it was fun nonetheless.
