Nina was supposed to be my first baby – I wanted a little girl so badly, I originally refused to pick a boys name when Nate was born (but that’s another story). So, when she finally arrived, I was in 7th heaven. She was the most cuddly, squeezable baby you could ever put your arms around.  NinaBaby.jpg (47301 bytes) Being just 14 months apart, she and Nate became very close. They were however, quite different. Finally, after Mr. questions in Michael, and Mr. "need to move" in Nathan, we got one of those sweet, "I’ll just sit here and play with my toys" baby we heard other parents talk about. It was just the break we needed as parents.

Nina also became a voracious reader. Educationally she was very precocious. She began reading by age 4, and by the time she entered first grade, she had to be given 3rd grade reading material by herself while the rest of the class was still working on phonics. She, like Michael LOVED to read. She also learned to type when she was 4 years old, before she started to read – remarkable as it seems even now. I can prove this, since I have it on film – she typed about 30 words per minute.  NinaHawaii.jpg (129887 bytes) Later she turned these learning skills toward music, and became accomplished as both a piano player and a singer – performing in the Jr. Mendelssohn Choir in Pgh.
