Verduno While we hoped for a dry day, it was a light rain until the last couple hours of the ride. We did nevertheless, ride more than 60 miles, which is a respectable distance in my book. Naturally, there were few pictures took the first half of the day, but the timing for the skies clearing was perfect. After lunch we had a streatch of road through some of the most spectacular vinyards that I have ever seen; it was a photographer’s dream. I took more than a hundred pictures and videos – most of them coming after lunch. We arrived at the hotel… no scratch that, at the castle, where we will stay for the next two days. We were blessed with a magnificent sunset as a reward for the days “hard” ride, and to give us the promise of a beautiful day tomorrow. Before dinner we learned a lot about how the grapes are taken care of, and the types of grapes that make up the famous “borollo” wine – that only comes from this area. We then got a tour of the wine cellar where all the wine produced from this vinyard is stored and aged. This cellar has been used for this since around the 16th century. As usual, Lorraine and I were more fascinated by the architecture than the MANY details folks were learning about the wine. |
