| Add enough boiling water to cover. Let stand 5 minutes. Drain well. Stir together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter or margarine till like coarse crumbs. Toss fruit and orange peel with the flour mixture. Make a well in the center. Stir together sour cream and egg yolk. Add all at once to the flour mixture. With a fork, stir till combined (mixture may seem dry). Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Quickly knead by gently folding and pressing for 0 to strokes or till dough is nearly smooth. Add enough flour so it isn7t sticky. Pat or lightly roll dough into a 7 inch circle. Cut into wedges. Arrange inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 400 oven for 0 to minutes or till light brown. cool for 0 minutes then drizzle with glaze. Serve warmGlaze: cup sifted confectioners sugar. tablespoon milk and teaspoon vanilla. Add more milk teasp at a time till drizzling consistency. |
